Revelations of Breath & Balance

with Jambo Truong

Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th Sept 2024

10am-6pm daily

At Kindred Studios, Strandhill, Sligo.

There are numerous yoga practices that are often overlooked, including pranayama and meditation. With the ongoing growth of yoga, it's possible to become uncertain about the true essence of the practice. Have you ever felt anxious about your place within the yoga community throughout these changes?

On this upcoming weekend, there will be a range of workshops and play shops available to delve into the newly developed branches of yoga. These sessions will allow us to become more self-assured and empowered as yoga practitioners.

Daily Schedule

10am-1pm: Morning Session

1pm-3pm: Lunch time

3pm-6pm: Afternoon Session

* Subject to slight change

Saturday 28th

10am-1pm Morning Session: Invigorating inversions

We will be delving into the therapeutic benefits of inversions such as forearm balance and handstands. By familiarising ourselves with various progressions, we will be able to customize our inversion practice to meet our unique needs and aspirations. Furthermore, gaining knowledge about the natural alignment of the human body within inversions can help identify areas where we may not be stacking our bodies properly. This play shop offers a playful and relaxed environment for refining your handstand techniques.

3pm-6pm Afternoon Session: Breath Work & Pranayama

In Saturday’s afternoon session, we will explore the difference between 'Breath Work' and 'Pranayama'. Although 'Breath Work' is a translation from Chinese 'Qi Gong', both practices have roots in traditional yoga and pranayama. As a yoga practitioner, it is important to understand that we are essentially breath work practitioners due to the nature of pranayama practices. This class will focus on two pranayama sequences that have been studied for their benefits, as described in traditional yoga texts. The first sequence has been shown to aid in managing anxiety and improving concentration. The second sequence is particularly popular among those who practice manifestation work.

Sunday 29th

10am-1pm Morning Session: Therapeutic Benefits of Back Bends

Are you interested in incorporating the therapeutic benefits of back bends into your practice? In this class, we'll explore the academic debate between back bends and power poses as methods for enhancing self-esteem and accessing untapped energy. During the workshop, we'll focus on mini back bends that offer an invigorating experience.

3pm-6pm Afternoon Session: Mantra, Chanting...and Cake

Join us for an invigorating and delightful event featuring mantra chanting, soul-stirring songs, and delectable cake. This is the perfect amalgamation of a celebrity-style spiritual practice with a fun-filled party atmosphere. Revel in the power of mantras that invigorate the soul and songs that uplift the mood. Your participation is highly anticipated, and we kindly request that you bring your favourite instruments and cake to share with the group.

The Unconventional bit: Jambo The Dragon

Jambo grew up in a Buddhist & Taoist household. The native Shamanic path of the Medicine People of South East Asia. The word 'Shaman' is referred to an individual who practises ceremonies to maintain connection to the guidance of nature.
He has apprenticed with Senior Shaman, Esther Lim for 13 years and has engaged in Taoist ceremonial practises from a young age. Throughout his life he has always had good mentors to support his development.

Although there is a large side to his work as a clinician, he also enjoys the practises of the hidden human potential. No longer ashamed of the possibilities of stretching his own mind, he hopes to help others believe in their own personal gifts and he encourages the creation of a safe environment to explore and develop the ability to share those gifts.

He believes in doing as many impossible things as possible and is a practitioner of dissolving useless and toxic concepts.
